Havana South Cuban Restaurant and Bar

Friday night we went to Havana South Restaurant and Bar for dinner. The place was packed. I always see that as a good sign. I think the picture captions speak for themselves. The food was excellent and I'm sure we'll be going back. We went because of the review at Urban Spoon.

Hungry

This is Hungry. He's the new mascot for Weight Watchers Momentum Plan. This is my second cycle of Weight Watchers at work. I don't have a lot to lose, since I'm within the range expected for my height. I do feel like I'm a little pudgier than I'd like though. Today, Hungry can be found living in my pantry in front of the pretzels. ;-)

The Semester Ended and My Computer was in a Mood

So I did get pretty behind on my posting because my computer and I were having a disagreement about certain functionality issues. After some convincing, and some drive cloning, we are back in agreement and I am catching back up.
So the first thing that was missed was that the semester FINALLY ended. Grades were posted. I did well, but not as well as I would've liked. Test performance in Marketing was less than stellar. Grades below.

ITEC 3300 Information Security A

MKTG 3000 Principles of Marketing B

Summer semester starts May 26. I'm taking MGMT 3400 Corporate Ethics and Social Responsibility and ACCT 2101 Accounting I.

Did I mention that I've added a Bachelor of Business Administration to my Bachelor of Science in Information Technology?

Digging in the Dirt - Part 2

Naturally I had to stop my work to take a picture of the blister I got on my thumb from the digging and raking. Means I was working hard, right?

Once again DH was on the deck taking pictures, which I didn't notice until I downloaded pictures from the camera. This is the planting of the strawberry plants my friend C gave me Thursday when I went by to look at her computer. C is the wonderful woman who taught me how to knit!

And here it is, my new little garden with my strawberry plants. In the empty looking area to the right I have planted watermelon (toward the bottom of the picture) and cantaloupe (toward the top of the picture).

Hopefully it won't be long before more pictures follow with my happy strawberry plants and my newly sprouted watermelon and cantaloupe plants!

Digging in the Dirt - Part 1

As odd as it sounds, I've had the urge to garden. So yesterday I picked out my plot in the back yard that's in the full sun for at least part of the day and dug it up.

I don't own a tiller, so I used a shovel and dug up my chosen plot. Fortunately it wasn't too large and the soil (red clay?) was soft. There were lots of earth worms. DH reminded me that you find those when you dig in the earth where they live.

I had to use a rake to break up the big clumps after I was done with the shovel. Little did I know that DH was up on the deck with the camera taking pictures of this grueling task.

It looked pretty good once I got the larger clumps all broken up, for dirt anyway. I did mix in some potting soil to give it something besides clay.

Visual Audio Sensory Theater

DH, J, and I went and saw VAST (Visual Audio Sensory Theater) in Heaven at the Masquerade last night. Wasn't real thrilled with the one opening band we saw (so unthrilled that I couldn't name them if I wanted to). The VAST set, however, was quite good. They're a bit mellower than the bands we usually go see, which meant the crowd was pretty mellow too. Small crowd for Masq. If you don't know who VAST is, you might recognize the song in the second video. It got quite a bit of radio play a few years back.

Strawberry Fields Forever

Friday, May 1, my daughter K, her friend K, and I went strawberry picking at the Washington Farms strawberry patch. It was a lot of fun. I think we may try to go back at least once more during the season. When I asked, they told me they expected the picking season to go at least to the end of May. You can see from the above pictures how pretty the strawberries are. They are also very tasty! If you are local and want to go, the cost is $10 per gallon bucket and $1 if you buy their bucket. You must pick in their buckets but you can bring something to transfer the berries to after you're done picking. As it was, we went to Wal-Mart afterward to do some shopping and picked up a few extra handle bags to set the buckets in. They were so full that the strawberries were rolling around the back of the MINI. The below pictures show our haul. Three gallons. Oh, and they say blueberries in June!!
