As odd as it sounds, I've had the urge to garden. So yesterday I picked out my plot in the back yard that's in the full sun for at least part of the day and dug it up.
I don't own a tiller, so I used a shovel and dug up my chosen plot. Fortunately it wasn't too large and the soil (red clay?) was soft. There were lots of earth worms. DH reminded me that you find those when you dig in the earth where they live.
I had to use a rake to break up the big clumps after I was done with the shovel. Little did I know that DH was up on the deck with the camera taking pictures of this grueling task.
It looked pretty good once I got the larger clumps all broken up, for dirt anyway. I did mix in some potting soil to give it something besides clay.
